Staying Hydrated is Important for Mental Health


As the human brain is comprised of about 75% water, it can effect our mental health. Staying hydrated is an easy way to help ensure your brain is healthy and happy.

Benefits of staying hydrated for mental health:

💧 Quickly effects mood by boosting circulation to all parts of the body, including your brain.

💧 Improves cognitive function -- essential to rational thought process that can be dampened during times of mental stress.

💧 If you are also suffering from a mood disorder, this can be a 'make or break' step to caring for your mental health.


Start with a glass of water first thing in the morning. Add this to your journal, either as an 8 glass a day goal or begin with your morning glass if you are new to this and add additional hearts as you increase your water consumption. Ideally, you will work up to 8-10 glasses of water daily for optimal hydration.


Choose a portable water bottle, preferably glass that makes you smile. There are so many companies with beautfiul and stylish bottles so you'll be happy in carrying this with you wherever you go.

My favourite water bottle so far has been from Bkr. Not only does it remind me of Beeker from Sesame Street when I think of the brand name, but its gorgeous, glass, and the silicone slip feels super nice.
